EC: report on the impact of demographic change

European Commission (EC) adopted first of the kind report on the impact of demographic change to Europe’s development and competences to solve problems that emerge in the continent.

The document that summarized long-run demographic trends (such as longer life expectancy, lower birth rates, ageing societies, smaller households, increasing urbanization) illustrates sharp differences across various European regions. The report was designed to identify which communities in the continent will be most in need of support when dealing with future challenges related to demographic indicators.

It is predicted that total European population would continue to decrease – by 2070, people in the continent will most probably compose less that 4 percent of planet’s population.
