Kaunas proposes to mandatorily test the third-country nationals for corona virus

“After 18 workers of company “Hegelmann Transporte” tested positive for corona virus, it was decided to not only test the drivers who came to work in the company from Uzbekistan, but also other employees (over 200 persons), among which – drivers from Ukraine.

On Wednesday, having had considered the emerged situation, Kaunas city mayor Visvaldas Matijosaitis appealed to Aurelijus Veryga, Head of the State Level Operations of Extreme Situations, Health Minister, with a proposal to frame a legal act upon which the testing for corona virus at the mobile check points would be mandatory to all nationals that came from the third-countries. It was also proposed to firm the employers’ responsibility to ensure decent accommodation conditions for workers that came to Lithuania from the third-countries.”
