Migration Department: key indicators of the 1st half-year, 2020

Migration Department published key migration indicators that overlook the first half-year of the 2020.

According to the preliminary data, on July 1, 2020, there were 82,754 foreigners currently living in Lithuania. During one year, the number of foreigners increased by 23,7 percent and now accounts for 2,96 percent of total Lithuanian population.

Particularly sharply (by 37,3 percent) increased the number of foreigners who have a permit for temporary residence in Lithuania. Also significantly (by 2 times) grew the amount of individuals who were granted Lithuanian citizenship.

During the reported period, most of the other values of migration indicators decreased. It is related to the COVID-19 virus caused pandemics and restricted movement between the states.
