EMN and OECD inform on residence permits and migrant employment during the pandemic

European Migration Network (EMN) and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) disseminated a joined inform on EMN member states actions whilst implementing political decisions related to residence permit status and migrant employment during the outbreak of COVID-19.

The document is first of its kind in an inform series which will be dedicated to discussing the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on the field of migration and asylum.

The results of the review reveal that during the outbreak of the pandemic third-country nationals were among some of the most vulnerable social groups. Most of the states analysed reacted in accordance to the emerged situation and activated temporary measures meant to ensure the extension of residence permits and provide help for migrants who lost their jobs due to the virus outbreak.
