European Asylum Support Office (EASO) informs that, compared to October, November did not highlight a significant change in the number of asylum applications lodged in the European Union (from 43 200 in October to 40 924 in November) with total numbers remaining far below the statistics of the first months of the year.
The trends are identified with the COVID-19 virus outbreak and restricted health protection measures in the Union states.
In November, most applications were lodged by Syrian, Afghan and Pakistani nationals. It is noticeable that during the reported period, there was an increase in the number of asylum applications registered among Ukrainians.
