EASO: in February, the number of asylum applications in the EU decreased insignificantly

European Asylum Support Office (EASO) informs that, compared to January, in February the number of asylum applications lodged in the European Union decreased insignificantly (from 39 975 in January to 38 300 in February) with total numbers remaining far below the statistics of the first months in 2020.

In February, most applications were lodged by Syrian, Afghan, Pakistani, Iraqi and Nigerian nationals. It is noticeable that during the reported period, there were considerably more asylum applications lodged by the Ukrainians.
