Amendments to the “Law on the Legal Status of Aliens” propose to simplify the procedure for hiring foreigners

The Ministry of the Interior submitted to the Parliament (Seimas) a draft amendment to the “Law on the Legal Status of Aliens”, which proposes to simplify the procedures for the employment of foreigners. The amendment aims to attract highly qualified specialists to Lithuania and create them an attractive immigration system.

In order to better welcome Ukrainians fleeing the war and to provide them with more favorable conditions for employment, the draft amendment also revises the provisions for granting temporary protection.

The Ministry informs that in 2021 there were 241.900 job-seekers registered with the Employment Service and 358.500 vacant jobs.
