EASO: in April, 2022, less asylum applications lodged in the EU

European Asylum Support Office (EASO) informs that, compared to March, in April, 2022, the number of asylum applications in the European Union approximately decreased from 82.900 to 60.200. These numbers have been in large determined by a significant drop of asylum applications lodged by Ukrainians. To compare, during the reported period close to 1,1 million people fleeing the war in Ukraine have registered for the EU temporary protection.

In April, most asylum applications were lodged by nationals of Afghanistan, Syria, Venezuela, Turkey, and Colombia. During the reported period, unaccompanied minors lodged 4 percent of all registered applications.
